Digital Video Broadcast S2 (DVB-S2) standard (aka ETSI EN 302 307) implements Low Density Parity Check codes based Forward Error Correction.
Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes are more flexible and perform better than other error correction methods. AN optimal LDPC code can be generated for almost any block size or code rate required. They are gaining popularity in Satellite and High Definition broadcast Television applications as well as other noisy channels exhibiting fading and multipath error characteristics.
